We just found out that Chloe will now be in free all day Kindergarten. (before you had to pay $240.00 a month)
For any of you who have had it for their kids how is it?

All of my kids have had all-day kindergarten, and Chandler will, too. We've never known any differently, so I really can't compare it. Jordyn did half-day preschool, 3 days a week. Cody didn't go to any preschool. Chan did half-day preschool, 5 days a week. My kids did fine with kindergarten. What specifically are you concerned about?

I think it is a long day, they are still so young, and also the lack of just free play time at home, or with friends.I think I just wasn't mentally prepared for this. school starts on the 24th of July so 10 days before school starts is not a lot of prep time to get used to the idea. Don't get me wrong not doing half day is great for me. I clearly see the benefits of both ways. I did like having a choice, but now we no longer have the option to choose.

Is your kindergarten really structured?

at the school Chloe is going to, they teach all grades one grade ahead, so K class is taught 1st grade material. They wear uniforms (yet it's a public school).

It is a "traditional school"
with whole classroom instruction.
They teach the spalding method and their math is a year ahead by about 2nd semester. they challenge the kids and teach up instead of some schools out here that teach to the mid to bottom portion of the class. I heoped in Carter's K class and the kids love it they do fun learning but it is definitly more structered than the other public schools. Our kids learn a lot more. Carter loved it but didn't like the Kindersteps he did the year before that is the reg.Kindergarten curriculum for our district. I love the school and the teachers!!!
